A Kiss in Time Kimberley Le 8BLUE
The setting of this book is in the 17th century where people from that time wore old clothing and when there were lots of kingdoms with princes, princesses, king and queens back at those times. The story then gets switches to the 20th century because a certain princess has touched a spindle and then made everyone in the kingdom including her sleep for 300 years.
There are two main characters in this novel. A commoner and a princess. Everyone in the kingdom argued with the princess and made her upset because she was warned to never touch one and now she has. Because of her mistake she then runs away with her ‘true love’ which is the commoner who kissed her awake. She demands him to take her away somewhere. When they run away the commoner learns true love and falls in love with the princess. The princess also learns about love and fall more and more in love with the guy. In this novel they also learn about family problems. There are problems where the parent has always told the kid what to do in the future and that the parents never listen to their children and only think about their jobs, college and inheritance. The most important thing that happen to them is falling in love with each other and learning the importance of their family. What they value the most is their jobs that they dream about and then making it come true.
One day a boy ran away from his tour not expecting to come across a castle which was surrounded by vines and branches everywhere. He was with his friend who he dragged along too. They found a beautiful, gorgeous princess and who did not wake up when they shook her. He thought she was very pretty so he had the urge to kiss her since she wasn’t waking up. That wasn’t what he thought, he kissed her and then everything changes.
The story has two points of view, the princess and the commoner. They author must had put a spell on this book! It was very addicting. It was about magic, spells, fairytale of the Sleeping Beauty all put together but based on the 20th century! The most important relationship in this novel is probably family and their love for each other.
The novel made me think about what I would want to do with my life. About my jobs in the future, what I want to be! I also thought about who my true love would be in the future as well! This book made me think terribly hard.
I love this book very much! I would defiantly recommend this book to everyone out there who doesn’t mind magic, witches, fairies, and love and family problems! The most interesting part was when they started to fall in love with each other and how the princess slowly learns how to live in their century with phones, television and such. Also when the family agrees with the boy on what he wants to do! Even the princesses’ family!
